RE:	Project Number PW1617 - Airport Improvement Grant

In 2014, the City submitted a Kansas Airport Improvement Program (KAIP) Application to the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) for the reconstruction of Taxiway C at the Lawrence Municipal Airport.  Taxiway C connects the west developed area and the main runway at the airport.  Users include the University of Kansas, Lifestar, Alligator, Inc., Gut Works, LLC and Great Plains Inc.  Taxiway C has significantly deteriorated with wide transverse cracking (see attached photos).  The Pavement Condition Index (PCI) is 61.

The KDOT program will fund up to ninety percent (90%) of a project.  The total estimated cost is $172,000 with KDOT’s share at $154,800.  The City’s share will come from the Airport Improvement Fund and staff will do the design in-house.

Action

Authorize the City Manager to sign the Airport Preservation Agreement with KDOT for the reconstruction of Taxiway C at the Lawrence Municipal Airport, Project Number PW1617.
