RE:	Event Permit – KU Band Day Parade : Saturday September 10, 2016

The University of Kansas Band has requested a street event permit to close various streets downtown (see parade route map) on Saturday September 10, 2016, for the 2016 KU Band Day Parade Event.

The street closures will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. and the parade will begin at 7^th Street and Massachusetts Street at 12:30 p.m. and the route will follow its traditional path south on Massachusetts Street to South Park. The parade will follow the Lawrence Police Department Operations Plan. It is possible that the timing of the closures may changes if the game time is moved to later in the afternoon or evening.

Vermont St.*	South of 6^th St.	North of 8^th St.
Kentucky St.	South of 6^th St.	North of 8^th St.
7^th St.	Tennessee St.	West of Vermont St.
7^th St.	East of Vermont St.	Massachusetts St.
Tennessee St.	South of 6^th St.	North of 7^th St.

*Vermont Street will be open to through traffic south bound during staging for the event. It will be closed to through traffic during the parade only.

In addition; Planning, Police, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Fire / Medical, Lawrence Transit, Downtown Lawrence, Inc., eXplore Lawrence and the Lawrence Association of Neighborhoods have all reviewed this permit.

ACTION

Approve a street event permit for the KU Band Day Parade event to close various streets downtown on Saturday September 10, 2016 beginning at 10:30 a.m.
