RE:	Salt Dome  1901 Wakarusa Drive Roof Replacement

Background

The Salt Dome located at 1901 Wakarusa Drive was constructed in 1999 and is constructed of a concrete foundation and 6 foot concrete walls. The structure is 72 feet in diameter and is approximately 4070 sq. ft. The roof structure is constructed of wood and composite shingles. During routine inspections in 2013 city staff recognized there would be an upcoming need for roof replacement. It remained a priority for repair as fascia boards and the shingles were and are continuing to deteriorate and peel loose. During previous budget discussions this maintenance item has been deferred. This roof replacement was included in the 2016 budget and it is time for the replacement of this roof to occur.

This project will consist of tearing off and replacing all old shingles, roofing membrane, gutters, downspouts, roof vents and any deteriorating wood structure on the facility.

Staff Recommendation

Replace the roof on the Salt Dome located at 1901 Wakarusa Drive. The project was identified in the 2016 budget and is expected that it will not exceed $100,000.00. The project will be funded through the capital equipment reserve fund account number 205-3-3040-6005

Action

Authorize staff to solicit bids, Bid# (B1620), for project PW1612 for the replacement of the salt dome roof   located at 1901 Wakarusa Drive. Set a bid date of June 14^th 2016.
