RE:	Purchase of a laboratory instruments and equipment – UT1304

Background/Project Description

The Department of Utilities has been engaged in the construction project of the Wakarusa Wastewater Treatment Plant and Conveyance Corridor Facilities. Part of this project includes laboratory improvements to the existing Kansas River WWTP Administration Building. These improvements will allow the City to meet additional wastewater testing demand for the Kansas River WWTP and the new Wakarusa WWTP facilities. New laboratory instruments and equipment are required in order to perform the testing.

Utilities staff has determined that laboratory instruments and equipment that meets the quality needs for the new laboratory improvements can be purchased from Fisher Scientific under the State of Kansas contract for the amount of $42,847.48.

Project Funding

Purchase is funded from the UT1304 Wakarusa Wastewater Treatment Plant and Conveyance Corridor Facilities project.

Action

Authorize the City Manager to approve the purchase of laboratory instruments and equipment from Fisher Scientific under State of Kansas contract number 12178AA for the amount of $42,847.48.
