Background
The purchasing agent has not been filled and disposal of city property was a duty that was carried out by this position. In the absences of personnel and working closely with the Finance Department, Central Maintenance has been authorized to facilitate a disposal auction. Discussions with Finance and Central Maintenance have led to the conclusion that an auction service that will require less labor by city staff pertaining to the disposal process is worth exploration. Currently Purple Wave staff facilitates the entire process and requires very little additional time from City staff. Finance and Central Maintenance agree to test the process with a current list of vehicles that are slated for disposal utilizing Purple Wave as the auction provider.
The following equipment meets or exceeds the criteria for replacement or is no longer useful to the City. We request City Commission approval to sell the surplus equipment by auction following the City’s disposal policy. Two units did not sell in the last auction facilitated by another auction provider and are relisted in the vehicle disposal process (units #210 and #2319).

Vehicles have been replaced by newer units in the fleet. These vehicles have been assessed by Central Maintenance and determined that they have no reassignment value within the fleet. Several of these units will have repair costs that will exceed the current value of the vehicle
