Lawrence, Kansas
WHEREAS: The Kansas Master Teacher Awards were established by Emporia State University in 1954 to recognize outstanding teachers; and
WHEREAS: These awards are presented annually to seven teachers in Kansas who have served the profession long and well and who also typify the good qualities of earnest and conscientious teachers; and,
WHEREAS: The Lawrence community and the students of USD #497 benefit from the exemplary contributions of these talented professional educators; and
WHEREAS: Keri Lauxman of Lawrence High School was officially recognized as a 2016 Kansas Master Teacher on April 6, 2016; and
WHEREAS: Ms. Lauxman has transformed her classroom into a highly engaging blended learning environment which is tailored for individual student strengths. This innovative learning model empowers students to take ownership of their educational goals and supports them beyond the classroom;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim April 19, 2016, as
