RE: |
In-Car Camera Systems for Police Patrol Vehicles |
Background
The Lawrence Police Department currently operates 42 vehicles with in-car camera systems manufactured by Watchguard Video. In order to avoid replacing all of the camera systems at one time, the department plans to replace a portion of the systems annually. The department requests to purchase 12 camera systems as part of this replacement cycle. The purchase would come from Watchguard Video who is a sole-source vendor for a total cost of $80,000.00.
Project Description
Replacement of a portion of our in-car video systems on an annual basis is necessary to prevent failures as the systems age. Our in-car video systems are critical components of modern public safety as they provide high quality recordings of criminal investigations and other interactions with the public.
Action
Police Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to authorize the purchase of 12 Watchguard 4RE in-car video systems from Watchguard Video as a sole source vendor for a total cost of $80,000.00.
