RE:	Change Order #2 to Spencer Turbine PO # 013662

Background

Sole source purchase order 013662 for $13,000 was issued to Spencer Turbine in October 2015 for needed modifications to an existing blower installed at the Kansas River Wastewater Treatment Plant. On January 26, 2016, the City Commission approved Change Order #1 for a necessary freight charge to ship the blower to Spencer Turbine for evaluation, thereby increasing PO #013662 to a new total of $20,000. The blower was then shipped to Spencer Turbine for disassembly and examination.

Project Description

Spencer Turbine has evaluated the blower, identified repairs and provided an adjusted repair quote increasing the initial repair quote by $3,603 from $13,000 to $16,603. Several items were found needing repair and/or replacement that could not have been known before disassembly. Staff has reviewed the adjusted quote and deemed it reasonable.

Staff Recommendation

Staff requests a second change order of $3,603 to purchase order 013662, thereby increasing the purchase order total amount from $20,000 to $23,603.

Funding

Funding for this purchase is from the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Budget.

Action

Approve change order for $3,603 to Spencer Turbine Purchase Order 013662 for additional blower repairs, thereby increasing the purchase order total amount from $20,000 to $23,603.
