Iowa Street Waterline Replacement:

The Department of Utilities, General Contractor Westland Construction, Inc., and engineering design firm Professional Engineering Consultants will be starting a waterline replacement project on Iowa Street, from 25^th  Street to 27^th Street, as show in the attached map.  This project involves the replacement of approximately 2,000 linear foot of 8” waterline with new 12” waterline by horizontal directional drilling and/or conventional excavation and backfill.  The project includes three bored crossings of Iowa Street, valves, fittings, fire hydrants, and other miscellaneous appurtenances for the waterline located along Iowa Street.

The project was awarded to Westland Construction on February 16, 2016 in the amount of $482,570.00. Westland Construction will be given a notice to proceed on March 14, 2016 with a total of 90 calendar days allotted to attain substantial completion. 
 

Beginning March 14, the Lawrence Utilities Department will close the curbside northbound lane of Iowa between 25^th and 27^th Streets. Brief lane closures between 27^th and 31^st Streets are also planned during this project. All businesses in this area have been notified and access to the businesses will remain open. Traffic control devices will be in place to direct traffic around the lane closure.
