RE:	Street Event Permit – 2016 St. Patrick’s Day Parade : March 17, 2016

The Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade has requested a street event permit to close various streets downtown on March 17, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for the 2016 St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Staging for the parade will begin at 9:00 a.m. and have street impacts beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the parade procession starting at 1:00 p.m. the route will follow its traditional path (see attached map) from South Park, north on Massachusetts Street. The parade will follow the Lawrence Police Department Operations Plan.

In addition; Police, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Fire/Medical, Lawrence Transit, Downtown Lawrence, Inc., and eXplore Lawrence all have reviewed this permit with no issues. Lawrence Association of Neighborhoods and East Lawrence Neighborhood Association were also notified of this event.

ACTION

Approve a street event permit for the 2016 Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade to close various streets downtown on March 17, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for the 2016 St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
