RE:	Kaw Water Treatment Plant Valve Replacement Purchase Order

Background

Mid America Valve Equipment Company is the area distributer for manufacturer Henry Pratt Company, sole source provider of valves installed in our water treatment plants. The quoted replacement cost for a 12-inch flanged ball valve at the Kaw Water Treatment Plant is $16,579.00 (not including freight).

Project Description

This replacement valve is needed for ongoing water treatment processes. Sole source provision of this needed equipment ensures compatibility and uniformity consistent with standardization of equipment protocols.

Staff Recommendation

Staff requests approval to issue a purchase order for $16,579 plus freight to vendor Mid America Valve Equipment for the needed replacement valve.

Funding

Funding for this purchase is from the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Budget.

Action

Approve purchase order to Mid America Valve Equipment for $16,579 plus freight for a sole source replacement valve to be installed at the Kaw Water Treatment Plant.
