Construction timeline is still pending but approximately June 2016 start. Several meetings to discuss issues. Most recent meeting with USD 497 staff, contractor, city and neighborhood representatives was held on December 1, 2015 at Pinckney School. Outcome was to allow USD 497 to evaluate and submit a position back to the group. On December 14, 2015 Kyle Haden with USD 497 agreed to allow access to the tunnel during construction, with the exception of when construction activities make access unsafe. Follow up notice was sent to all stakeholders (USD 497, Pinckney NA, Old West Lawrence NA, Oread NA, City (Planning & Public Works). USD contractor and design firm). All stake holders were in agreement with the plan to keep the tunnel open for the majority of the construction project timeline. There will be times when construction activities do not allow access – the contractor has agreed to keep them to a minimum.
Next Step(s): Update the Commission on stakeholder agreement February 2, 2016. Finalize a construction plan / schedule with USD 497’s contractor

Indian Hill Neighborhood – 27st Street Traffic Issues
Several public meetings, Traffic Safety Commission and City Commission meetings have been held over the past year (2015). Last commission meeting staff (May 26, 2015) staff was directed to temporary stop signs at 27th & Louisiana, stop signs at 27th & Ridge Ct. and stop signs at Naismith Valley Park crossing (until a HAWK signal could be installed). They also directed staff to install a HAWK signal at 27th & Naismith Valley Park crossing, and complete sidewalk installation on the north side of 27th Street from Naismith Valley Park to the east at Belle Haven St. The HAWK signal is complete, the sidewalk is complete. Staff held another public meeting on November 12, 2015 to discuss new traffic counts, outcome of traffic measures taken in May of 2015 and the re-opening of 31st Street.
