Project Description
Bob Billings Parkway between Foxfire and Wakarusa Drive had significant pavement deterioration. This summer the roadway underwent full reconstruction. The median width was reduced and in some places removed to allow for complete street elements, such as, 5 foot bike lanes along with two traffic lanes in each direction and left turn lanes to be striped. Curb and gutter was replaced on the new median. Sidewalks on both the north and south side of the street were also replaced. Conduit for future city controlled fiber optic lines was also installed with this project. The project was funded with infrastructure sales tax funds and was originally estimated to cost $1.2 Million. The low bid was $939,710.50 and awarded to RD Johnson Excavating, Inc.
Change Orders
During construction additional work was needed to complete this project that was not anticipated including curb and gutter, sidewalk and driveway pavement. Also, due to constructability issues with the fiber conduit installation, that line item required an overrun as well. A street light at the intersection of Bob Billings Parkway and Research Drive was added to help illuminate that intersection. Costs for installing power conduit and a new street light were added to this project. Overall the overages on this project totaled to $22,326.27.
