PW1507 6th & Champion Award Bid Memo |
Project Description
The intersection of 6th & Champion Lane in northwest Lawrence has been identified for signal improvements prior to an increase in development in the area. Under existing conditions a traffic signal is already warranted at this location. The commercial area on the south side of the intersection is already developed. The north side of the intersection is currently partially undeveloped. Sprouts Grocery store is located on the northwest corner of the intersection and more development will occur on the north side of 6th Street further increasing the need for a traffic signal at the 6th & Champion Lane intersection.
The scope of the project is only for traffic signal improvements as well as sidewalk improvements at the intersection to accommodate pedestrians who wish to cross 6th Street. Crosswalk pavement markings will be installed on 6th Street for north/south pedestrian traffic.
Project Status
Public Works sent a request to design consultants to submit a proposal for engineering services including an estimated design cost.
