K&W started at 2nd & McDonald and is at Champion. The portion left is between Champion and Wakarusa. The conduit installation is about seventy-five percent (75%) completed. Once the conduit is complete, the fiber will be installed. The project is expected to be completed in late October or early November. Kansas Fiber Network & RG Fiber has leased fiber and are working on their installation plans.
Santa Fe Station Update:
The approvals for the land transaction on the depot continue to make their rounds with BNSF. We have not been able to ascertain a firm date for the closing of the land transaction, despite assurances that all is on track on their end. Given this, KDOT has suggested that the bid date be set for next June or an earlier date as soon as the land transaction is completed. Staff will continue to work with BNSF on bringing the land transaction to a close, along with Amtrak.
