RE: |
Traffic Safety Commission, Reserved Parking for Persons with Disabilities, 3920-22 Overland Drive |
Background
At the April 6, 2015 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request from the resident of 3922 Overland Drive to establish RESERVED PARKING FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. Overland Drive is classified as a “local” street in a residential duplex area. Parking is currently permitted only along the north side of the street. City practice has been to establish such restrictions in residential area upon request. There are currently four (4) other similar zones currently in place (see map and meeting materials).
Traffic Safety Commission Action
At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, one (1) members of the public addressed the Commission in support of the request, the resident of 3920 Overland Drive, indicating that he will need the requested restriction in approximately six (6) months, due to his health. The Commission, on a unanimous vote of 6-0, recommended establishing RESERVED PARKING FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES in front of 3920-22 Overland Drive.
Action Request
It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission and establish Reserved Parking for persons with disabilities in front of 3920-22 Overland Drive and adopt on first reading, Ordinance No. 9115, establishing the Reserved Parking for persons with disabilities in front of 3920-22 Overland Drive.
