RE:

Traffic Safety Commission, No Parking adjacent to 1605 Tennessee Street

Background

At the November 3, 2014 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request to establish No Parking along the west side of Tennessee Street for approximately 50-75 feet north of the exit from Melrose Court, 1605 Tennessee Street. Tennessee Street is classified as a “minor arterial” street in a residential area; the speed limit on Tennessee Street is 30mph. Parking is currently permitted along the west side of Tennessee Street. Sight distance is severely restricted when vehicles are parked adjacent to the driveway at 1605 Tennessee Street.

Traffic Safety Commission Action

At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, no one from the public addressed the Commission concerning this item. One of the Commissioners noted that it is a terrifying experience exiting from the driveway. The Commission recommended, on a vote of 6-0, to recommend establishing No Parking along the west side of Tennessee Street for a distance of 50 feet north of the exit from Melrose Court, 1605 Tennessee Street. This will result in the reduction of approximately two (2) parking spaces.

Action Request

It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission, if appropriate.
