RE:	Street Division Storm Water crew truck utility body

Please place the following item on the consent agenda for the City Commission to consider at its March 11, 2014 meeting:

Background:

Public Works requested bids to replace the Storm Water crew truck chassis on a separate memo. To complete this truck a utility (tool) body needs to be added. Pre-bid quotes determined it would save the City money to purchase the chassis and body separately.

Recommendations:

Central Maintenance Garage staff recommends the purchase of the utility body from American Equipment off the Kansas City Missouri competitive bid contract. This contract is bid or renewed annually by the City of Kansas City, Missouri for the purpose of purchasing equipment throughout the fiscal year. The City of Lawrence has been given permission by American Equipment (Vendor) and the City of Kansas City, Missouri to purchase from this contract.

Funding:

Funding for these purchases was approved in the 2014 budget process.

Action Request:

Authorize the Public Works Department to purchase the utility body from American Equipment for the amount of $11,450.
