RE:	Front Load refuse truck for Solid Waste

Please place the following item on the consent agenda for the City Commission to consider at their June 4, 2013 meeting:

Background:

Public Works Solid Waste requested bids for a fully automated front load refuse truck to replace a 2005 front load refuse truck.  Solid Waste equipment is replaced according to our equipment replacement schedule.  The equipment replacement schedule is based on age, mileage, hours of use, and cost of maintenance and upkeep. The difference in the bid amounts in the table below are due to different makes of chassis, the make of the packer, and transmission.  The center column identifies why some bids were rejected.

Action Request

Authorize the Public Works Department Solid Waste Division to purchase the low bid truck meeting specifications from Truck Component Systems for $181,346.00.
