RE:

Busker Fest Right-of-Way Permit

We have received an application for a Temporary Use of Public Right-of-Way Permit for the Lawrence Busker Fest in downtown Lawrence from 08/23/13-08/25/13. The application includes statements of support from adjacent businesses. The request is slightly different than past years because the event would be held on 7th and 8th Streets downtown, rather than 8th and 10th Streets. The request is for the following use of the streets and sidewalks:

Date

Time

Locations

Friday, August 23

4:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

900 Massachusetts, sidewalk and parking in front of US Bank

100 block of E 7th Street

100 block of E 8th Street

Saturday, August 24

11:00 a.m. – midnight

900 Massachusetts, sidewalk and parking in front of US Bank

100 block of E 7th Street

100 block of E 8th Street

Sunday, August 25

11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

900 Massachusetts, sidewalk and parking in front of US Bank

100 block of E 7th Street

100 block of E 8th Street

The applicant has also requested authorization of the possession and consumption of alcohol on the 100 blocks of E 7th and E 8th Streets during the event. Adoption of Ordinance No. 8866 would allow this.

ACTION:      Approve a Temporary Use of Public Right-of-Way Permit for the Lawrence Busker Fest for the use of the sidewalk and 10 parking stalls in front of 900 Massachusetts Street, and the closure of the 100 block of E 7th Street and the 100 block of E 8th Street on August 23-25, 2013; adopt on first reading Ordinance No. 8866, allowing the possession and consumption of alcohol on the public right-of-way on the 100 block of E 7th Street and the 100 block of E 8th Street during the event.
