RE:

Request to purchase Street Division equipment.

 

 

As part of the 2013 budget the city commission approved funding for the following equipment for the Street Division:

 

1.    Two (2) tandem axel dump trucks with salt spreaders and snow blades

 

The Public Works Department is recommending the purchase of this equipment utilizing the K.C. Metro MACPP contract – This contract is competitively bid and results in lower overall prices to those who utilize it for the purchase of equipment. (See attached memo from Tom Orzulak, Street Division Manager).

 

This contract does not provide a means for offsetting equipment purchases through the use of trade-in. However, we intend to sell the two dump trucks these will replace. We have obtained estimates of their values. With the purchase and the selling of the old trucks this purchase will come in under the allocated budget.

 

Recommendations

Purchase Two (2) 2014 Freightliner tandem axle dump trucks with spreaders and snow blades

 

Project Funding

Funding for these purchases will come from 214-3-3800-6005 (motor fuels tax fund) in the amount of $265,372.00

 

Action Request

Authorize the Public Works Department to purchase Two (2) 2014 Freightliner tandem axle dump trucks with spreaders and snow blades for the amount of $265,372.00 utilizing the KC Metro MACPP bid contract from KC Freightliner.
