History & Project Description
With the acquisition of the former Farmland Property came the responsibility to maintain the existing ground water remediation system associated with the environmental remediation. This was a specific condition of the Consent Order signed with the property acquisition. The majority of the existing electrical system is either at or past its design life. This has increased the maintenance costs associated with its continued operation. In order to reduce future maintenance costs a new electrical system was constructed with power coming from 15th Street and the East Hills Business Park. Two benefits came from the electrical line relocation. With the construction of the new electrical service the main transmission lines became part of Westar's infrastructure and thus eliminates future maintenance costs incurred by the City. This relocation also cleared the existing electrical infrastructure on the south side of the site making room for new development. The work to be done with this contract will construct the electrical lines between the ground water pumps and tanks and the meter poles. Westar will provide power from its new transmission lines to the meter poles.
Material Cost
Three quotes were obtained for the electrical services and corresponding materials needed to tie the new meter poles to the corresponding ground water remediation pumps and tanks. The table below summarizes the contractors and their corresponding quotes. In addition copies of the quotes provided by the contractors are attached with this memorandum.
