Advisory Board Meeting Minutes

I.             Meeting called to order by Chair Clayton

 

II.           Approval of the February minutes-- Motion to approve February 2013 minutes by Caldwell and seconded by Dawson. 

 

III.         Concerns of Board – None at this time.   

 

IV.         Rock Chalk Park/Recreation Center Review – Gould Evans and Werner Architects presented the current design of the Rock Chalk Park/Recreation Center.

 

V.           Staff reports

                                     i.    Recreation/Golf Revenue/Expense Report – Shaw presented the recreation revenue report.  Hecker reported revenue for the golf course for February was over $18,000.  Renovation at the Pro Shop has been completed and merchandise is fully stocked.         

 

                                    ii.    Parks/Projects Report – Hecker reported there have been some delays on prepping the ball diamonds for Spring due to the snow removal that took place a few weeks ago.  Downtown is being prepped for blub planting and will commence after the scheduled St. Patrick’s Day parade this weekend.

 

                                   iii.    Marketing Report – Steinbrock reported a Twitter and Facebook account has been created for Eagle Bend Golf Course.  The Summer/ Fall Activities Guide is being finalized and will be sent to press this week.  Distribution is scheduled for March 31.  June 14 is the scheduled date for the Bill Self Golf Classic Tournament. 

 

a.        Other:  Update regarding utilizing gym space at Free State High School during swim tournaments.  Shaw will coordinate a meeting between Principal Ed West, Loos and Clayton to further discuss alternative solutions.  Hecker reported there is structural damage to the 1902 portion of the building at the Carnegie.  The wall is deteriorating and causing damage to the roof deck.  It will need to be repaired and rebuilt according to historic standards.  Hecker is currently working on a memo to present to the City Commission for review.
