ORDINANCE NO. 8852

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, PROHIBITING THE POSSESSION OF GLASS BOTTLES OR OTHER GLASS CONTAINERS ON CERTAIN STREETS AND PUBLIC RIGHTS-OF-WAY AT CERTAIN TIMES

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

 

SECTION 1.  Pursuant to the general police powers of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, in order to promote the health, safety, and welfare of its citizens, it shall be unlawful, from 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013, through 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013, and beginning again at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, through 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 to carry or to possess glass bottles or other glass containers on the following streets and public rights-of-way:  New Hampshire Street (between Sixth Street and Thirteenth Streets), Massachusetts Street (between Sixth Street and Thirteenth Streets), and Vermont Street (between Sixth Street and Thirteenth Streets).

 

SECTION 2.  Any person who violates this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).

 

SECTION 3.  This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption and publication as provided by law.
