RE: |
Farmer’s Market mid-week location |
Per City Commission direction, staff has investigated the availability/appropriateness of the Farmer’s Market Tuesday location at the parking lot owned by US Bank at the northeast corner of Rhode Island and 9th Street. See attached map.
This privately owned parking lot has approximately 32 spaces.
I discussed the possibility of a one-year City license agreement allowing for 3pm to 6pm Tuesday use of approximately 18 spaces with Brad Burnside, President, US Bank. Brad was enthusiastic about this possibility indicating that he believed we could work through any necessary formalities (license agreement, insurance requirement) in relatively quick order. Whether the license party should be the City or Farmer’s Market can be determined in short order. Staff believes it may make sense for the license party to be the City with a sub-license to the Farmer’s Market to ensure for adequate insurance coverage, costs, etc. Brad and US Bank see this as a potential community service opportunity for the bank for a parking lot which is currently underutilized.
As you have questions or concerns, please let me know.
