Project No. PW1318 – 2013 Microsurfacing Program – City Bid No. B1311 February 12, 2013 Consent Agenda Item – Set Bid Date of February 26, 2013
|
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the February 12, 2013 meeting:
Project Description. The microsurfacing project includes a number of City residential and collector streets including streets generally bordered by Kasold Drive to Wakarusa Drive and W. 6th Street to Bob Billings Parkway. Streets to receive microsurfacing are determined to be in generally good condition. Those that are deteriorated beyond the recommended condition for microsurfacing will be included in future milling and overlay programs.
Project History. The City’s annual pavement maintenance program was reviewed and approved by the City Commission on January 15, 2013. Other contracted maintenance program projects such as the 2013 Crack Seal Program (to be performed by City internal crews), the 2013 Concrete Rehabilitation Program, the 2013 Overlay Program Phase 1, and the KLINK Overlay work on Iowa Street from 29th Street to City Limit are also planned for this construction season as presented at the January 15, 2013 City Commission Meeting.
Project Details. The project includes various surface and full depth patching of deteriorated areas on City streets followed by the microsurfacing of the entire pavement surface (see attached location map). All existing pavement markings will be reestablished.
Project Funding. The pavement maintenance program is funded from several sources including the general fund, gas tax funds, sales tax and sales tax reserve, and capital improvement reserve accounts. Funding for the program was approved in August, 2012 and adopted in the 2013 City Budget. This project was included in the 2013 Pavement Maintenance Program for microsurfacing to be paid from the general fund.
Action Request. Set Bid Date of February 26, 2013 for City Bid No. B1311, Project No. PW1318 - 2013 Microsurfacing Program.
