RE:

Hybrid electric Aerial Lift and Chip Truck.

Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the February 12, 2013 meeting:

Background Information:

Parks and Recreation Department is requesting to purchase one aerial lift and chip body from the Altec Corporation as part of the City’s cost share in the EPRI grant.

This truck is being built in conjunction with the Electric Power Research Institute under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Grant. The City’s responsibility is for the purchase of a conventional truck chassis (Ford) and aerial body to be supplied by Altec. Participation in this grant was approved by the City Commission April 19, 2011.

Current Status:

The aerial device, chip body and installation is $92,539. This completes the City’s expenses as a participant in this grant.

Funding:

Funding for this truck was approved during the 2013 budget process for Parks and Recreation Department.

Action Request:

Approve the purchase of the Parks and Recreation Department aerial and chip body from Altec Corporation.
