RE:	Request for Proposals for 2014 Employee Healthcare Plan

The City of Lawrence along with its consultant, Hays Companies, is prepared to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Employee Healthcare Plan to be effective with the 2014 plan year.

The last RFP was conducted in 2009 for the 2010 plan year. The RFP is scheduled for distribution on or before January 25, 2013 through Hays Companies. 

The RFP will be for the all medical, dental, vision and prescription drug components of the healthcare plan to include Third Party Administrative (TPA) claims administration and provider networks.  Wellness initiatives will be incorporated into the RFP. 

Hays Companies, as per our regular procedure, will receive quotes for reinsurance coverage in September 2013.

Action Item:  Authorization for distribution of the Employee Healthcare plan RFP on or before January 25, 2013.
