RE:            Professional Services Agreement with URS Corporation

_____________________________________________________________

In 2012, the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization (L-DC MPO) received an 80/20 grant funding from KDOT in the amount of $200,000 to perform a Multi-Modal Studies Project. As a result of that grant, the L-DC MPO proposes to enter into a Professional Services Agreement with URS Corporation, a company that has proficiency performing Multi-Modal Studies Projects. URS Corporation will perform a Commuter Park & Ride Study, a Fixed Route Transit and Pedestrian Accessibility Study, and a Countywide Bikeway System Study for a fee not to exceed $200,000.

Approximately $165,000 of that $200,000 will be funded by the grant and other sources. The remaining $35,000 will be funded by local money that was accounted for in the 2013 Planning and Development Services Department's budget and/or the 2013 L-DC MPO budget.

Action Requested: Staff requests the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement with URS Corporation, whereby URS Corporation will agree to perform certain Multi-Modal Studies Project for the L-DC MPO in 2013 in exchange for the payment of grant funds and local funds not to exceed $200,000.
