On December 20, 2011 the City of Lawrence opened bids for the following:  

Bid#1158 –  One (1) Horizontal Baler– Public Works Department, Waste Reduction and Recycling

Waste Reduction and Recycling requested bids to replace the horizontal baler unit 952 at the Solid Waste Annex North. This baler is used daily to bale cardboard, mixed paper and newspaper that is collected by the division. The present baler is eight years old and in need of reconditioning. The cost of the needed repairs and the downtime involved with the repairs would dramatically affect the operation of the division.

Funding is available in the Waste Reduction and Recycling budget to complete this purchase this year.

The two lowest bidders did not meet specifications as noted in the table below.
