RE: Resolution in Support of the 25th Street and O’Connell Road Low Income Housing Tax Credit Project
Housing Investment Partners, LLC, of Springfield, Missouri is applying to the Kansas Housing Resource Corporation for the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program to construct affordable senior rental housing to be located at 25th Street and O’Connell Road. The proposed housing development will contain 48-60 independent living facilities targeted to tenants who are older ambulatory adults age 55 and older.
The tax credits will be used to finance the new construction of the facility which will consist of one and two bedroom units with the following amenities: restricted entry, washers/dryers and updated appliances, an activity room, a media room, a fitness center, elevators, and planned activities. The developer has not requested local financial assistance.
KHRC is required to notify the chief executive officer of the local jurisdiction where the proposed development is located. For their records, a Resolution from the local government stating their approval and support for all such proposed developments using tax credits is also required.
The Community Development Advisory Committee met today to consider this proposal and voted unanimously to recommend approval of the submission of the application. The next step would be consideration of the resolution of support by the City Commission.
The City Clerk will have the Resolution for the Mayor's signature, if approved. If you have further questions, please let me know.
