RE:	PW1108 - Traffic Building, 445 Mississippi – Foundation Stabilization Increase Purchase Order #004062 to Cover Additional Work Required

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the November 22, 2011 meeting:

Project Description.  Stabilization of the Traffic Building at 445 Mississippi. Installing piers to move the east wall back into its original position. Work began November 3.  During excavation a larger than normal footing and foundation was discovered.

Project History The west wall has moved and formed large cracks in the south and north wall of the building. Doors were not operable and it has continued to widen. Concrete Rescue price of $14,300 was accepted, noting additional depth pricing of $418 per foot and $1,100 for additional pier pricing.

Project Details.  Originally 13 piers were estimated to perform the repairs. After footing excavation was complete it was determined that three additional piers were needed. One pier is being added on the south side and two piers on the east side adding $3,300.   The depth of some piers had to be extended, adding an additional $1,728.

Project Funding.  202-3-3000-6050, PW1108

Action Request.  Approve the additional funds in the amount of $3,300 for additional piers, and $1,728 for the additional depth to the original Purchase Order. The new total will be $19,328.
