Background: On October 11, 2011 the City Commission approved the Development Agreement for the Poehler Building project; the agreement was revised on November 1, 2011. The city has committed to make the following infrastructure improvements:
Delaware Street Improvements from 8th to 9th (street, curb & gutter, sidewalk, parking, lighting, storm sewer, including stormwater improvements on 8th Street) |
$800,000 |
General Obligation Bond Resolution 6941 and Stormwater Funds |
8th Street, including parking, surfacing, curb bulbs |
$ 73,538 |
2012 Street Maintenance Program |
Delaware Street parking lot (construction by City/design by development); alley between Delaware and Pennsylvania to south end of parking lot (design and construction) |
$300,000 |
General Obligation Bond Resolution 6937, and 2012 Street Maintenance Program |
Water line along Delaware Street between 8th and 9th |
$100,000 |
Non bonded construction; Utilities |
Status: In 2007 Bartlett & West Engineers began developing the plans for the Delaware improvements; however, plans were not completed. The City has discussed the current scope of improvements and engineering services to complete the infrastructure plans for this project.
The City and Bartlett & West Engineering have agreed to a fee of $55,000 to retain ownership of the previously started plan effort, and provide a complete plan set for bidding including additional improvements (i.e. lighting, 8th Street, and alley design).
Action Requested: Authorize City Manager to enter into an agreement with Bartlett & West Engineers for engineering design services for the Delaware and 8th Street Improvement Project in an amount of $55,000.
Respectfully submitted,
Charles F. Soules, P.E.
