The following vehicles and equipment meet or exceed the criteria for replacement (please see the full list of vehicles and equipment at the end of this memo). We request City Commission approval to sell the surplus equipment and vehicles on Gov Deals as we have done in the past.
Fire/Medical extrication equipment & pneumatic lift equipment
The Fire Medical equipment is nearly 15 years old and has exceeded the manufacturer’s recommended age for safety and reliability. All Fire/Medical equipment being sold was replaced this year.
Buses
Buses are rated using federal guidelines. All buses being sold have exceeded the federal guidelines and were replaced in fall 2010. All buses are in poor condition.
Vehicles
City vehicles are rated by using a scale that includes age, miles/hours, type of service, reliability, maintenance & repair costs, and condition. The total number of points determines the condition. The vehicles being sold have all been replaced. The City has three totaled police cars that we would like to get three quotes and sell as scrap. The Maintenance Garage Supervisor feels we can get more for the vehicles by selling them as scrap to local vendors.
Recommendation Action:
Approve sale of surplus vehicles and equipment.
