Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the September 6, 2011 meeting:

 

Project Description/History.  The 2011 Downtown Misc. Concrete Repairs project was awarded to R.D. Johnson Excavating Co., Inc. on May 10, 2011.  This concrete rehabilitation project included intermittent curb repair and replacement, some adjacent concrete sidewalk impacted by curb replacement including access ramps, and various concrete street pavement removal and replacement.  The project area limits generally extended from 6th St to North Park St and Vermont St to New Hampshire St, including work around the Community Center.  There was a significant increase in work quantities throughout the course of the project to address multiple distress locations including the addition of the E 6th St concrete intersection approach to Massachusetts St.  Work in this project area was completed in late August.  The total quantity overrun summed $49,635.80 for the described area.

 

The City prioritized other concrete pavement sections in need of significant repairs which included Delaware St and E 22nd Ter from E 19th St to Learnard Ave (previously approved CO No.1 to be completed in September).  The City has also proposed the rehabilitation of the concrete pavement sections on Kasold Frontage extending north from Tam O’Shanter and Camelback Dr at Quail Creek Dr.  The estimated addition of Kasold Frontage and Camelback quantities equates to $55,000.  This additional work is anticipated to begin in mid September.

 

Project Funding.  The current contract amount is $340,000.  With the inclusion of the downtown increased quantities, $49,635.80 – CO.No.3, and with the addition of the proposed work on Kasold Frontage and Camelback Dr, $55,000 – CO.No.4, the total contract amount will be $444,635.80.
