RE: |
Request purchase one used Etnyre oil distributor
|
The Public Works Department is requesting authorization to purchase the following used equipment from JFW Equipment located in Climax, North Carolina.
Used 2000 gallon 2004 Etnyre Centennial Oil Distributor |
$ 74,000.00 |
Justification:
This piece of equipment is a critical unit for street maintenance and is used to apply tack oil to asphalt pavement prior to placing asphalt overlays or patches. Our current oil distributor is a 1978 model that is not working a majority of the time, costing the city wasted money in equipment repairs and staff downtime. This also causes delays in completing projects in a timely manner. This unit will be maintained by Public Works. A similar equipped new Etnyre Centennial oil distributor would cost the city approximately $151,000.00. It is our opinion that a used distributor will meet our needs and result in a significant saving to the city.
Project Funding:
The Public Works Department has researched used oil distributors for the past 6 weeks to identify a machine that is available and would meet our needs. Funding for this purchase will come from 205-3-3000-6005 (equipment reserve fund) for a total purchase of $74,000.00. This price includes delivery to Lawrence, KS.
Action Request:
Authorize the Public Works Department to purchase one used Etnyre Centennial Oil Distributor from the equipment reserve fund in the amount of $74,000.00.
