RE:	Shotgun start at Penny Jones Golf Tournament

Alvamar Golf Club is hosting the Penny Jones Golf Tournament on September 9, 2011. They have requested permission (see attached email) to fire blanks from a shotgun for two “shotgun” starts, at approximately 8:00 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Staff recommends suspending enforcement of City Code Section 14-407, which prohibits the discharge of firearms within the city, for this event.

ACTION:      Approve the suspension of enforcement of City Code Section 14-407, prohibiting the discharge of firearms within the city, for “shotgun” starts at the Penny Jones Golf Tournament on September 9, 2011, at Alvamar Golf Club.
