Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   The National Geographic World Championship is a competition where student teams from around the world gather together to test their geographic knowledge; and

WHEREAS:   Stefan Petrovic, two time Kansas State Geographic Bee Champion and an eighth-grader-to-be at South Middle School, was selected to participate in the three-member U.S. team after finishing third in the National Geographic Bee in Washington, D.C. in May; and

WHEREAS:   The U.S. team took fourth place in the National Geographic World Championship that was held July 24 -27 in various locations in the Bay Area;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Aron Cromwell, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby recognize Stefan Petrovic for his outstanding accomplishment and performance during the National Geographic World Championship.
