ORDINANCE NO. 8650
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING, ADOPTING AND APPROPRIATING BY FUND THE BUDGET OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2012.
WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, timely met and made in writing, on forms furnished by the Kansas Director of Accounts and Reports, a proposed budget, for the budget year 2011, setting forth all data, information and items required by K.S.A. 79-2927, as amended.
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of July, 2011, the Governing Body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, caused to be published, in accordance with K.S.A. 79-2929, in the Lawrence Journal-World, a daily newspaper of general circulation within Douglas County, Kansas, notice of a public hearing to be conducted on August 2, 2011, at 6:35 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter could be heard, at the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, Lawrence, Kansas, for the purpose of answering and hearing objections of taxpayers relating to the proposed budget and for the purpose of considering amendments to such proposed budget; and
WHEREAS, such public hearing was held at the time and place designated for the purposes stated, all as provided in the published notice of said hearing.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:
Section I. The above stated recitals are by reference incorporated herein and made a part of this ordinance as if copied in length.
Section II. The proposed budget and financial statement as shown on standard budget forms furnished by the Kansas Director of Accounts and Reports is approved and adopted as the maximum expenditures for the various funds for the budget year starting January 1, 2012.
Section III. The Governing Body certifies that the amounts shown to be raised by ad valorem property tax levies are within statutory or duly adopted charter ordinance limitations; and,

Section V. The adopted 2012 budget shall be filed with the County Clerk of Douglas County, Kansas as provided by law.
