ORDINANCE NO. 8513

 

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS ANNEXING PROPERTY PURSUANT TO K.S.A. 12-519 ET SEQ.

 

Whereas,  The City of Lawrence has acquired ownership of two tracts of land adjacent to the Lawrence Municipal Airport, said deeds being duly recorded at the Douglas County Register of Deeds at Book 1060, Page 1933 and Book 1060, Page 1935; and

 

Whereas, Pursuant to K.S.A. 12-520(a)(2), the City has authority to annex said tracts by ordinance.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

 

SECTION ONE:  The Governing Body finds that the City of Lawrence, Kansas owns the tracts of property described in Section Two and hereby consents to annexation of said tracts into the City limits.  The property is generally located adjacent to the Lawrence Municipal Airport.

 

SECTION TWO:  The following described tracts of property are hereby annexed into the City of Lawrence, Kansas pursuant to K.S.A. 12-520(a)(2) to-wit:

 

(Tract 21) 

A tract of land in the Northwest Quarter and the Southwest Quarter of Section 17, Township 12 S., Range 20 E. of the 6th P.M., in the City of Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas, described as follows:

 

Beginning at a point on the South line, 982.97 feet East of the Southwest corner of said Northwest Quarter; thence North 17º25’11” East, 1622.55 feet; thence South 28º18’18” East, 227.42 feet; thence South 05º46’36” West , 285.94 feet; thence South 16º50’04” West. 496.36 feet; thence South 29º03’08” West. 905.90 feet; thence South 61º37’15” West, 61.60 feet; thence North 17º25’11” East, 244.06 feet to the Point of Beginning, containing 6.828 acres, more or less.

 

(Tract 29)

A tract of land in the Northeast Quarter of Section 17, Township 12 S., Range 20 E., of the 6th P.M. in the City of Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas, described as follows:

 

Beginning at a point on the North line, 230.96 feet East of the Northwest corner of said Quarter Section; thence North 87º54’20” East, along said North line 104.71 feet; thence South 17º25’11” West 419.78 feet; thence North 28º18’19” West, 137.79 feet; thence North 17º24’47” East, 288.61 feet to the point of beginning, containing 0.802 acres, more or less.

 

SECTION THREE: The City Clerk shall file a certified copy of this ordinance with the County Clerk, and the Register of Deeds and the County Election Commissioner of Douglas County, Kansas.

 

SECTION FOUR: Severability. If any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this ordinance is found to be unconstitutional or is otherwise held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect the validity of any remaining parts of this ordinance.

 

SECTION FIVE:  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
