The Building Safety Division issued 159 building permits in May, with total construction for the month valued at $21,088,007.  Total permit fees assessed for the month were $92,472.  Monthly and year to date comparisons to previous years will be tracked throughout 2011 in the following table:

Staff issued 16 permits for new residential construction in May, including one duplex and 15 single-family dwellings.  Permits were issued for 14 new residential projects in May last year, ten for single-family dwellings and four for duplexes.  Monthly and year-to-date statistics for total permits issued and new residential projects will be tracked in the following table, similar to permit valuation and fees:

The highest valued projects for the month included a new hydro-electric power plant at 250 N Powerhouse Road, valued at $11,349,295; a new hotel at 150 Iowa Street, valued at $3,365,871; and a new dental office at 530 Folks Road, valued at $1,001,400.

 

Public projects included electrical work at the Kaw Water Treatment Plant, valued at $60,000, and area lights at South Park valued at $14,958.
