RE:

Rehab of Pumps and Motors – Utilities Department - #B1125

Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the June 14, 2011 meeting:

REHAB OF PUMPS AND MOTORS – UTILITIES DEPARTMENT – #B1125

Utilities Department requested bids for thirty nine (39) pumps and motors (out of 526) for rebuild or replacement from the maintenance management system.  This is the Pump and Rehab Program that the Department has used to maintain the reliability of the pumping system for numerous years.

Items 4 and 5 are given to the overall lowest bidder for that pair of those items as called out in spec due to both items being rebuilt.

Items 21 and 26 being requested are not the low bid. Utilities Department requests to purchase these items new rather than rebuild because the new units have a 5 year warrantee vs. a 1 year warrantee and the new price is within 25% of the cost to rebuild.

Items 22, 32, 34 and 36 removed from list for this year.

Please see bid tab, attachment

Please see recommendation, attachment 2

This purchase was budgeted in the 2011 Operations and Maintenance Budget line items for equipment maintenance.

 Action Request:

Award bid for pumps and motors for the Utilities Department to Mid America Pump for $114,690.00, Douglas Pump for $75,809.00, JCI for $131,361.00, Layne Christensen Company $25,798.00, and Patchen Electric $2,995.00, total for all pumps and motors, $321,354.00. (Utilities/Water/Wastewater/Collection System)
