Project Description/History. The 2011 Downtown Misc. Concrete Repairs project was awarded to R.D. Johnson Excavating Co., Inc. on May 10, 2011. This concrete rehabilitation project includes intermittent curb repair and replacement, some adjacent concrete sidewalk impacted by curb replacement including access ramps, and various concrete street pavement removal and replacement. The street curb and gutter and concrete pavement sections to be worked on are in poor condition with extensive concrete deterioration. The project area limits generally extend from 6th St to North Park St and Vermont St to New Hampshire St. Work on this project is anticipated for the months of June, July, and up to mid August.
The City has also prioritized other concrete pavement sections in need of significant repairs which includes Delaware St from E 19th St to north of E 22nd Ter and on E 22nd Ter from Learnard Ave to Delaware St. These concrete streets have had an increase in commercial and industrial traffic due to several new businesses that have relocated to this area. Based on the deteriorated conditions of the pavement and with the increase in traffic, City staff has proposed the inclusion of concrete rehabilitation work on Delaware and E 22nd Ter. This additional work is anticipated to begin in August.
Project Funding. The current contract amount is $150,655.70. With the addition of the proposed work on Delaware and E 22nd Ter, $140,000, the total contract amount will be $290,655.70.
