On June 7, 2011 the City of Lawrence opened proposals for the following:

Project Description
The project includes a 2” mill and overlay, curb repair, joint repair and full depth patching where needed. The project includes addition of a right-turn lane/bus turn-out at two locations – 6th and Maine, and 6th and Michigan.
Traffic will be maintained with at least one lane eastbound and westbound throughout project, and access will be maintained to all adjacent properties. Paving operations will begin early am (3:00 am) and cease prior to PM rush. Construction is anticipated to begin in late June with a substantially complete date of September 16, 2011. The contractor anticipates completion before September.
Project Funding
The project will be funded by KDOT, 2011 Street Maintenance Fund and with General Obligation Bonds from Resolutions No. 6891 and No. 6892. Two current projects: 6th Street – Folks Road to Monterey Way and Bob Billings Parkway – Kasold to Crestline are also being funded from the bonds in Resolutions No. 6891 and 6892.

Based on current contract prices there is a balance of $7,414.30.
Action Request: Waive the Engineer’s Estimate and approve bid from Sunflower Paving for Project PW1101, KLINK: 6th Street – Massachusetts St. to Iowa St. in the amount of $1,215,161.90 provided the contractor can meet the terms established in the contract documents and contingent upon KDOT approval.
