RE:	Ordinance 8635

Attached for commission consideration is Ordinance 8635.  The ordinance amends the maximum amount of compensation that a Judge Pro Tempore for Municipal Court may receive.  Pursuant to Section 12-102 of the Code and K.S.A. 12-4107, the Municipal Court judge shall designate a Judge Pro Tempore in the event of absence, illness, conflict, etc.  Under K.S.A. 12-4107 the compensation amount must be designated by ordinance.  The code at Section 12-103 sets a maximum amount of $50 per day which has been at same level since at least 1979.  Our Municipal Court judge recommends changing this amount to a maximum of $250 per day.  Legal staff supports this increase and has prepared the attached ordinance.

Action Requested:  Adopt Ordinance 8635 if appropriate.
