Pinckney Tunnel Project |
As I understand, the Pinckney Tunnel Project has several distinct components: tiled ramp walls, mosaic mural, and a wall of LED lighted tiles which will respond to movement within the tunnel.
The lighted display wall is the most significant aspect of the project. Acrylic tiles with LED lighting and motion sensors will be placed on one side of the tunnel. As a pedestrian walks through the tunnel the lights will follow their movement creating a shadow form. The panels are a KU graduate project design, and Star Signs worked with the group to develop a proposal and cost estimate of approximately $600,000.
The project has some other minor miscellaneous costs and estimates are conservative.
Summary:
Tiled ramps (labor and materials) |
$ 64,000 |
Mural (craftsmanship and materials) |
6,000 |
LED lighted display wall |
600,000 |
|
$670,000 |
Please let me know if additional information is needed.
Respectfully submitted,
