RE: |
23rd Street Bridge At Haskell Right-of-Way Dedication |
KDOT will be reconstructing the 23rd Street Bridge at Haskell in 2012. The bridge will be demolished and a new structure constructed. The roadway will be lowered approximately eight (8) feet, and a shoe-fly detour will be constructed to maintain two lanes of traffic in each direction. The project is scheduled to bid in January/February with construction beginning in April 2012 and completion in September 2012. Additional details are included in the attached staff report/KDOT presentation.
Included in the project will be sidewalks, a tie into the Burroughs Creek Rail Trail, a center turn lane and median, and turn of the century style lighting. The City has agreed to pay for these additional items from federal funds received for street projects.
KDOT needs a small piece of right-of-way and a temporary easement that is City owned property. KDOT is requesting that the City dedicate the right-of-way and easement required for this project. City staff has reviewed the request and recommend that the dedication be approved.
