Kansas Workers Compensation Assessment

 

 

Please place the following on the May 17 City Commission Consent Agenda:  Authorize staff to pay Kansas Worker’s Compensation Assessment in the amount of $25,505.98.

 

Background

Every year the State of Kansas issues an assessment against every insurance carrier and self-insured entity to cover the operating costs of Kansas Department of Labor’s Office of Workers Compensation.  This year our assessment is $25,505.98.  This is down $1,232.71 from last year’s assessment of $26,738.69. 

 

We should be receiving a similar, though much smaller bill, from the Kansas Department of Insurance in the near future.

 

Recommended Action

Staff recommends paying the $25,505.98 assessment to the State of Kansas.
