On Monday, April 18, 2011, the City of Lawrence, City of Eudora, Douglas County, City of Baldwin, Wakarusa Township, Franklin County, and the City of Ottawa opened sealed bids for road salt in a cooperative purchasing agreement.  Last year the City purchased 3,500 tons of road salt in a cooperative bid for $43.02 a ton.  This year the City requested bids for 3,500 tons of salt with the option to buy an additional 1000 tons in the spring of 2011.  The results are:

Recommendation Action: 

Award bid for 3,500 tons of road salt for Public Works Department to Cargill Salt for $49.98 a ton or $174,930.00 with an option for additional 1,000 tons if needed for $49,980.00, total $224,910.00. (Public Works/Streets)
