Mechanical Board of Appeals

May 27, 2010 minutes

Chair called the meeting to order at 4:37 p.m.

Review and approve minutes from March 4, 2010

After review, Jarboe moved to accept the minutes as written. Seconded by Blanchard; Passed 3-0. Duncan abstained because he was not a member at that time.

Review draft ordinances for the IMC, IFGC and mechanical provisions of the IRC

After review of the IMC draft ordinance, Mohr suggested a change to Section 307.2.4 from “required” to “recommended”.  Mohr motioned to approve the IMC draft ordinance as changed.  Seconded by Blanchard.  Pass 4-0.

After review of changes to the mechanical portions of the IRC, a motion was made by Mohr to approve the changes.  Seconded by Blanchard. Pass 4-0.

No changes were made to the IFGC ordinance and was not presented to the board for review.

Discuss provisions in the energy code that affect the mechanical trade

A draft memo written to the board to the Building Code Board of Appeals was presented to the board.  Staff advised the board that the Building Board was not pursuing the changes that prompted the memo.  The board opted to not send the memo at this time.  Mohr moved to approve the draft memo.  Seconded by Jarboe. Pass 4-0.

Miscellaneous

New member Wayne Duncan was introduced to the board.

Motion to adjourn made by Jarboe.  Seconded by Jarboe; passed 4-0.  Meeting adjourned at 4:55 p.m.
